On 5 December 2020, the DBWC held its year-end event this year - this time as part of the series "Germany meets the Silicon Valley of Eastern Europe". This event series was launched together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Belarus, the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, the Hi-Tech Park Belarus and the AHK Belarus in 2020.
At this fourth and last hybrid conference, Jacob Wöllenstein (Head of the Belarus Office of the KAS), Stefan Kägebein (Regional Director Eastern Europe of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations) and Lyobov Mayorova Lyuba Mayorova (Head of the Global Cooperation Office of the HTP) summarised the year 2020 in the first part and gave an outlook on 2021. Those interested were able to follow the conference live in the Marriott Hotel under strict hygiene conditions or on Zoom. The event was opened by Timofej Sawran, Chairman of the Board of DBWC. The entire event was moderated by Stephan Hoffmann, Head of the Club's Representative Office in Belarus.
In the second part, our members from the IT industry, represented by North It Group, HanseCom BY, Silk Data, IBA Group, SaM Solutions and Seavus, discussed how Covid-19 has influenced digitalisation in Germany and Belarus, especially in their business areas. The outcome of this discussion was that each company found COVID-19 to be a challenge in their business, but that it also opened up new areas of business. All in all, we expect 2021 to be a challenging year for the IT sector in Europe.
Our members and partners were able to take away impulses and suggestions for the new business year and some members also exchanged concrete ideas for new projects in 2021.
